Dear Reader,
I hope you are well. It has been a month of challenges and personal growth for me. John underwent retina detachment surgery, triggering a wave of emotions and fears. As some of you may know, my formative years were spent at Birmingham Children's Hospital as my brother went through leukemia treatment until his passing at the age of 5. This experience has left a lasting impact on me, and I often think of the potential he never realized. Despite these emotions, I am profoundly thankful for the growth and deepening relationships within Divine Potentiality. The spirit of co-creation within our community continues to blossom.
During one of Chelsea Faraclas's delightful creativity workshops, member Liz Keough proposed a few new programs, including one on flower arranging. Chelsea shared about her dear friend, Stephanie Immer, and now we have a Flower Arranging program scheduled for March 16th. This exemplifies the essence of co-creative collaboration.
I eagerly anticipate this event, particularly as it holds sentimental value for me, as my mom would have loved to have been a florist. Despite working at the greengrocer's just a few doors down from the florist and having a knack for creating beautiful decor and wrapping gifts perfectly matching seams. Sadly she never pursued floristry because she doubted her spelling abilities. She worried she would spell things wrong on the little cards attached to the flowers.
My mom passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from a stroke at just 50 years old. As I get nearer to the age she was when she died, I am saddened to think of all the joy she could have experienced arranging flowers instead of sorting through potatoes and cauliflowers. If only she had a supportive community to believe in her dream and guide her toward what made her happy. Whether our dreams are grand or modest, overcoming personal limitations, doubts, and fears often necessitates the support of a community to unveil those hidden desires within us.
At Divine Potentiality, we cherish the power of co-creation. In our workshops, circles, and playgrounds, we eagerly welcome your ideas for new speakers and programs.
